USA roadtrip

I really love to travel. I used to be car-sick when I was younger so I always dreaded the journey from one place to another but since then I learned to deal with that side of travelling so I could enjoy the rest of my trip with my family and my friends.
Last year, I travelled around the States for almost three weeks. We enjoyed a lot of the country's best views and national park. To complete the experience, we stayed for three days in Yellowstone, meaning that we went camping in the middle of the woods surrounded by wild life. It was fantastic! To be honest, it was the first time I went camping and knowing you're surrounded by wolves, bears, bisons and all those animals is pretty surreal and a bit scary... But it's nice to know that they're protected and free to roam around as they want for once. We're watching/observing them, yes, but they're not tracked down and killed for their furs or their meat. Anyway, I just wanted to share a few of my favourite pictures I took on this roadtrip.

Our first stop was Custer park which is a beautiful park but it's very, very windy. While we were there, we also visited the Wind Cave which was really a nice experience. A lovely young lady was our ranger-guide for the tour, she really knew what she was talking about so we learned a lot about the cave. After that, we took the direction of the Black Hills National forest where we were able to see our first bison. He was beautiful and majestic, standing out alone in front of some woods.

Then we went on to visit Mount Rushmore: I was really impressed by the four President's heads unlike the Statue of Liberty, which is beautiful but not that impressive when you stand in front of it, the fact that men did that with almost only explosives all those years ago was mind-blowing (see what I did there!). The rocks you can see at the bottom of the pictures are actually the fallout of the explosions. Loved climbing there!

Our next stop was the Devil's Tower which if you're not familiar with its legend you should definitely go check it out because it's such a sweet story. We did the smaller tour of the tower just because it was like one in the afternoon and insanely hot. The second picture is the beautiful view we had when we walked around the monument, we could see the Belle Fourche river from up there.

After a few more days of travelling, just before entering Yellowstone, we stopped in Cody - Buffalo Bill's town. It was a nice stop just because it's a bit old-western vibes with lots of cowboys and great food. And then, we got cut off the world for three days just enjoying Nature and wild life... We came across bears, bisons, coyottes and all the geological phenomenon that Yellowstone is known for. It was magical, even though we hadn't had a shower in three days.

After that, we continued to travel across the country. We went through Red Canyon, Black Canyon, Dinosaur National Monument, an old town called Silverton which was 'preserved' just like it was back then... We also went through New Mexico and Texas in search of the route 66. We finally hoped back onto a plane from Denver to Chicago where we spent our last few days in the States. Chicago was amazing!! Good food, nice views and really nice people, we even had a grand tour of Fire house 51 (Chicago Fire fans will know).

The Fire House 51 tour was the last thing we did on this trip. Even though we mostly slept in tents, on the ground, and we were all tired at the end of it, it was a great experience. The views were breathtaking and the people were all around pretty nice.
I hope you enjoyed travelling around the States with me! All pictures are mine so be mindful of that and don't take them for yourself.
